Why not ask your class to participate in a sponsored Hula Hoop challenge (or something similar) to raise money for a school resource or charity? E.g. Some new tricycles, extra reading books, new playground equipment etc. Just use this simple sponsorship form by adding your name, challenge, date and year group and away you go. Good luck raising money.

Assess Reading - Track Reading Progress

Assess each child’s reading progress (in any primary school) with these easy to use and effective assessment sheets. 5 pages in total. Fully editable. Student’s work through levels 1 to 5. A great way to track student progress (and not hugely time -consuming) If a child meets ‘every’ assessment criteria by the end of Year 6, they are working ABOVE the expected level in reading. A child who meets every assessment criteria in STAGE 4 (but does not meeting every assessment criteria in STAGE 5) by the end of Year 6 is working AT the expected level in reading. A child who does not complete every assessment criteria in STAGE 4 by the end of Year 6 is working BELOW the expected level in reading.
School Assembly: LITTER

School Assembly: LITTER

(0)
Approximately 15 - 20 minutes long. Song, music and prayer included. Slide 1: Opening slide. Slide 2: Why do people drop litter? Students can discuss this question with the person sitting next to them and share their thoughts with you. Slides 3 to 20: The consequences of dropping litter (to the environment, wildlife and oceans). Lots of opportunities to discuss the ‘hard-hitting’ slides. Slide 21: An appropriate prayer about our world and the importance of looking after it. Slide 22: Song: ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ Slide 23: A fun ‘poster’ competition for the children to complete (linked directly to the theme). Slide 24:Setting up a litter-picking group in your school Final slide: A slide showing how long it takes for some types of litter to decompose (break down). You may like to refer to this IF the children ask you how long it takes for litter to rot away. This assembly was well received by the students and it helped highlight the importance of caring for our school and local environment … I also noticed a substantial decrease in litter afterwards.
